Bamboo Mount Milone - DEREGISTERED
Reforestation of a 35-hectare intensive agricultural grass field in the municipality of Montemilone (PZ) in Basilicata, Italy, by planting Moso bamboo, in order to maximize greenhouse gas uptake and soil protection from hydrogeological and erosion hazards. Forestation interventions have some aspects of great benefit to the environment and the community such as:
- the increased absorption of atmospheric CO2;
- the promotion and active land management through the sustainable use of forests to contribute to the reduction of erosion and desertification, soil conservation and improvement, the regulation of water regimes, and the improvement of natural resources and the rural landscape;
- the promotion of the development of the country's mountainous and rural areas through job creation and diversification of productive activities;
- the contribution to adaptation to the impacts of climate change.
